Andrew Adonis has published a Policy Network paper outlining the findings from his survey of more than 200 employers on the barriers to economic growth.
In his paper, Competing in a Race to the Top, Adonis outlines how employers from the ten cities he visited are struggling with skills shortages, inadequate infrastructure and gaining access to finance.
Lord Adonis, transport secretary in the last Labour government, is leading a national growth review for the Labour Party. The Adonis Growth Review, which is supported by Policy Network and IPPR, is due to publish its final report in the summer.
Writing for the British Chambers of Commerce, Adonis has outlined how he will be taking forward proposals to increase employer take-up of apprenticeships and to give city regions the levers they need to invest in infrastructure.
